lifting the rear with a jack
this may sound really dumb, but where is the best place to put a jack to lift the rear of my monte? i put it on the sub-frame "rail" a few inches from where the fuel filter is and it caved in. i about pooped my pants when i went to put the jack stands underneath an noticed it all dented in. sometimes i jack fwd cars where the lower control arm meets the frame, but these cars don't seem to have a good place to jack up the rear.

The body pinch weld or subframe is where I usually jack it. Most cars that I put on the lift at work are lifted from the pinch weld as well. In most cases you can't get the lift arms to the subframe in the rear, either a gas tank or somethings in the way
I can't believe the sub frame would have been damaged, unless it was rotted. Their usually very tough

How easily can you get under your car?
I use the spot between both back wheels to jack either the '03 or '06 Montes when I want both back wheels off the ground at the same time.
You'll see a spot in the middle that looks beefier and curves down towards the ground. That's where I place a 4x4 piece of wood. (i just typed weed) lol
Use the wood to help the floor jack cradle reach the car easier. Cause the exhaust is in the way.
