Default Lack of Power / Cylinder 1 misfire

I was looking to by an 06 SS with 170000mi.. It sounded good but the check engine light was on and the dealer said that was a cylinder 1 misfire. I drove the car and it had no power at all.. The rev limiter in park was less than 3000RPM, not sure if that was right??
So the question is, if there is an error code does the computer go to a safe mode of some sort keeping down the performance??
Thanks

Any dealer that puts a car on the lot for sale like isnt one you want to deal with. Theres no reason to put a broken car up for sale, especially one that's borderline undriveable like that. Would be different if it was a private party offering a $500 mechanics special.

The RPM thing is probably stock. A lot of vehicles have a fairly low P / N rev limit so you dont spin the bearings revving the heck out of it without load.

As for the total lack of power, it is possible it's running in a limp mode. Regardless that's not a car youd want to mess with, they need to fix it first.

I agree, but they were only asking $2000 and just wondering if it was quick fix like a bad spark plug or wire and that would bring it back to life...But like you said, why put it on the lot if it was a simple fix.... good point..
Thanks
