Well just because you put a lot of money into a car or special ordered it doesn't necessarily mean you have to keep ti forever. This is known as a sunk cost in economics. Unforutantely, people make decisions based on money they have already spent, rather than looking forward to the future and making decisions based on what would be to their advantage later, not what they have already done.

I'm going to drive my Monte Carlo until it quits, I believe. 117,000 miles are down... and it may very well go 117,000 more. But I'm going to get as much out of it as I possibly can. When it's done, I might sell it... I might keep it.

Its a lifer for sure!

And I have a great track record: I have never sold a car. Every car I've ever owned I've kept until it went to the wreckers (2 previous Buicks I did sell cheap as parts cars, then the new owner took them to the wreckers). But I've never owned a decent car before the Monte!

This car in particular will be a classic one day. I will not get rid of it until people stop asking me if I'm going to paint it and put an 88 on it. And people will never stop asking that either...

Default Monte will be staying

Between my girlfriend and I we have had 4 Montes. A 84,86,87 AND NOW A 85. We willnot part with this one I remember how much we missed not having one the last time for 2 years. Plus this one we have put alot work into. I would buy another instead selling this one. 2 is better than 1........

Default keeping my mc

I plan on keeping mine for a long time. I waited a long time to finally own something this nice and cool looking. I enjoy it very much. It is fun car to drive and take to car shows. I get several compliments on it wherever I go with it. I have also made some new friends because of this car.

For me it depends on what its worth in a few years. Its probably going to continue to depreciate in value for some time. I'll only drive it April through October so keeping the miles down on it shouldn't be an issue. I can't believe its already 5 years old, still smells new inside.

I really like the style of these cars, and they drive like a dream. I've owned 3 cars since 2000. First one was a 1997 z34, second was a 2003 Limited Edition SS and now my 2006. Crossing my fingers GM will bring them back sometime in the next 5 years.

As long as I can get gas, oil & parts for it - she's a keeper. I think it will be a long time
before they bring out another MC. I would like a Black 2007 SS ...

Definitely won't ever sell it- it was my first car, and its simply got too much money and work into it. Between sentimental value, and actual cost of parts put into it- the couple grand I would get selling it would never come close to being worth letting her go.
