Default Instrument Cluster interchangeable

Does anyone know if the instrument clusters are interchangeable? I have a 2005 LS with just the 4 gauges and would like to change to a 6 gauge cluster.

Also, will the mileage have to be reprogrammed?

Thanks.

You can interchange the clusters, however one of the gauges won't work, I forget which one, but I think it might be the oil pressure gauge.

You have to have the mileage reprogrammed, and you have to sign a legal document saying that you performed the switch and at what mileage.

Huh, I thought you had to have the PCM from the 3.8 Liter engine in order to get the SS gauge cluster to work..

Nope, all the gauges won't work, but you don't need the PCM, it picks up from other sensors

You don't have to change the speed sensor or anything since the SS cluster goes to 140mph and the LS only goes to 120?

I know it's a little different, but I swapped my guage cluster on my '94 Grand Am years ago. I got one close to my mileage (and waited for my mileage to catch up). I managed to get the upgraded cluster from another v6 Grand Am. All I had to change was the oil pressure switch to a sending unit. After that ALL the guages work perfectly fine.

You might need to do a similiar swap to make the SS cluster work 100% on your car.

yeah i did!

YouTube - ‪New Gauge Cluster Test-red04montels-HD‬‏

like they said the oil won't work, and i was wrong in the video, the volts is in the correct place.

the only bad thing is you need to test the stepper motors to make sure they won't fail later and you need to get the mileage transfered.

mileage can be transfered at bbengineer.com and just run the car for a bit to make sure the motors are working.
