7th Gen ('06-'07): ignition problems starting

Default ignition problems starting

hello everyone i hope someone can help me im having a starting problem with mt monte its a 2006 3.5 litre lt model ....my problem is when i put the key in to start and turn it the car may start all things work stereo ect but it wont turn the car over everthing goes blank but if i take the key out and put it back in and wiggle it it may start and aslo sometimes when this happens i do hear a click comming from the fuse panel on the passengers side some days it starts without a problem and then i have days it will do this all the time does anyone have any insite on this

Your ignition switch is bad. Think GM just put out a recall on these for faulty ignition switches. I had to replace mine not long ago as well. Should be getting my reimbursement check from the General here shortly.

a recall has been issued but for now, atleast at my dealership, parts are not available yet. if it is a major problem like it sounds like it is, you can do like 00monte did and repair it then wait for a reimbursement.

So true I received a letter stating there is no parts available.

The recall for this generation isn't for the ignition itself, it addresses either your key or the key hole. So you'll probably be on your own for this one, same for you 00montecarloss. The only cars with ignition cylinder swaps are the cobalt/ion/g5 etc... The first major recall.
