My least common thing I've came across and I've never seen anyone else do it was shatter a connecting rod on start up.... I've done it once somehow on my stock block and knock on wood my second block is doing very well.

i put zzp's shift kit in both of my montes, which will mean less heat build-up...my 02ss, has the better upgraded coolant elbows...my 98z34, however is in for a major swap in the next months to come

I would say at least the Monte Carlo people don't have to worry about weak spindles that trigger the ABS, SES, and SVC lights and the Passlock system tripping the "security" light all the time.
I used to have a Grand Am and those were the common problems on it, although my specific problems were the brakes that never got a firm pedal.
