I bumped into a mound of snow, and my paint is chipping off. What are my options????
This morning, as I was rolling in to a parking spot, I accidentally pulled a little too far foward, and just barely bumped the lower part my my bumper into a 6 in. mound of snow. Ifigured it wanst a big deal at all. Upon further inspection, i noticed that a half-dollar size portion of the paint just flaked off, from thesnow! Is this typical for all the paint to just flake off after such a rediculously small impact?I have I black monte with the silver sport package. Any advice on what I can do to correct this problem????
Thanks.
Thanks.
more than likely it was about to fall of anyways. I've never heared of snow causing paint to chip. Depending on the size, use a little touch up paint, or you may have to go to the spray can. good luck with the repair
if you do use touch up paint or spray bomb make sure you sand around the area first to get rid of all the stuff thats going to flake...and you may have to put a bit of primer down first
If your snow is anything like the snow we have left, it's now more ice then snow. This is probably why the paint chipped?
I know one time I was showing off for a girl I was dating. We'd been riding around for a couple of nights after school and I was doing donuts in the snow. This one night I spotted a big patch of snow and headed my dad's car right into it. Only it wasn't snow it was solid ice. It was a little tough explaining how his car gotdamaged.

If the paint was really cold as it would be in winter, then yes a bump could cause chipping especially on plastic painted parts. Paint doesn't like to adhere to plastic.
thats why your supposed to use an adheision promotor for plastic...but i dont think the parts come with it on it factory....its just good body shops and painters that use it

To add to what Wiz Kidd posted, if you have to do paint work yourself and don't own the proper equipment you can buy rattle cans of self-etching primer so paint will stick better.
NAPA sells primer like this. Not sure on the Zone or Advanced? But a can of primer is around $6.
I've used it a few times with decent results.
