I'm up to about 78,000 - with the exception of the LIM gaskets, nothing outside of regular maintenance required.

61xxx miles on mine now, and yesterday I just replaced the low and upper intake gaskets and flushed the cooling system, replaced the thermostat, and put a new plenum. oh and I didn't put the cheap lower gasket on it either, I don't wanna do that job again.

I am now an owner as of February 2013. Bought a 2003 Jeff Gordon edition #989 and put 150 miles a day on it. LOVE this car. No major problems (knock on wood).

2003 SS approximately 118,8XX. I'm the second owner as of 4/13. New hub bearing, resonator, thermostat, coolant fittings, body work to be done soon. Still like the car a lot, sill getting used to it again (had 01 gp GT when I was 17).

Purchased 2004 Monte Carlo LS 3400 V6 in 2006 with 34,000 miles

Always do regular mantenance:
  • oil and oil filter change 3,000-4,000 miles (Valvoline Max Life Oil for "Valvoline Engine Guarantee" .... 225,000 mile guarantee is what I signed up for)
  • air filter once a year
  • spark plugs once a year
  • plug wires every 2 years
  • coolant flush 7 fill once a year
  • thermostat once a year
  • cabin filter once a year (good for your A/C to run eff)
  • tires, brake pads, rotors & battery as needed
  • (I do all except coolant flush & tires)
Repairs
  • (2) Trans flushes
  • Blower motor resistor (HVAC would only run on high or off)
  • Water pump
  • Power steering pump
  • Fuel pressure regulator (engine ran like crap and stalling)
  • Evap canister (check engine dummy light was on & threw a "mass vacuum leak" code)
  • 150,000 - Low pressure and high pressure power Steering Lines
  • 175,000 - Trans cooler lines
  • 182,000 - Current mileage
  • Yet to fix/replace
    • broken front sway bar (going to replace front & rear sway bars and rear trailing arms.... since I am replacing the front sway)
    • stepper motors on speedo cluster
  • (I do all repairs.... no dealership / repair shop)
Question to all???? I have not done or seen signs of Lower & upper intake gaskets going bad. How can I tell if I have the metal gaskets installed?

Default issues and miles

hey everyone, i have a N/A 2003 Monte SS. Right around a 100k under the hood. About 97K I had to have my tranny rebuilt, torque converter went bad and messed up internal parts. Service engine light on now around a 100k for p0140, i think O2 sensor needs replaced. I plan on doing a lot of work, one thing at a time, LIM gasket, CAI, etc. Other then that good ride, need shocks and struts soon, but thats norm for a 100K

car still runs strong. i plan on fixing everything on it myself.
