Default passlock

[my 2000 monte carlo has a passlock system error I think.

I took my 2000 monte carlo to a dealership here in north vancouver. they it for 3 days because i complained that the security light fashes for 5 times then the battery light comes on and the alternator drops to zero for about 1 minute then the security light comes on and we do it all over again. When i went to a dealer gm they had it for 3 days and they came up with the idea that it "maybe" or they "think" it is the bmc computer. but they weren't sure and the cost would be around $600.00 plus labour and diagnostics of $175.00.

Hi `Member's,
How many miles to you have on your Monte Carlo ? (Please post)

What problems have you had with your
Monte Carlo ? Please post

Please contain year & engine

2003 Monte Ls 3.4 159,000 bought with 94,000 in 2009

107,800 A/c discharge hose started a leak. ended up replacing
134,000 Ball Joints and Control arms replaced D&P side. worn Bad!
150,061 Transmission/Motor Mounts Replaced. worn bad!
150,400 Front Wheel bearings/hubs. were very loose.
153,282 Transmission slippage. Rebuilt transmission
156,390 Battery crapped out. 2nd? battery I believe.

Along with many and I mean many oil changes and tire rotations. Also so many alignments it was retarded, I dont know why. If it helps I had 18 inch rims on the car most of the time, hence why I needed new suspension parts. Please notice right when I hit 150k I was screwed those entire few months lol. Still broke from all that!

Also I do what I can within reason, could not rebuild the tranny myself. ball joints sucked, did one side myself.

2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS
130,595
3.4L V6

I'm the second owner of the car and it hasn't been too much of an issue with this car but I have only owned it since August of 2012.

Dimmer Switch, 120,000
Catalytic Converter, 125,000

I know that the previous owner also replaced the resister switch for the heater controls and the wheel hubs because the traction control, tire pressure and the ABS wouldn't work. This last week though the transmission is starting to act up and is clunking through the gears and is lurching into second gear.

I want to do my own work on my car but I don't have the tools nor the experience on how to do anything so I end up taking my to a couple of independent shops that I really like and trust and have them do the work for me.

92.5k, had to replace original t-stat and the old O2 sensor. Wheel hubs have needed replacing for about 10k so far.

[QUOTE=Wilco;195934]91,000 on the Odo! 3.8L 02 MC SS! Most of the problems the car's has have been minimal and mostly brought on by yours truly. I'd to replace the PCM and reprogram it, and broken a few pieces on the dash cover taking it. (in my defense the pieces were sun baked and very fragile), so I'm in search of these pieces (wish me luck finding them). And yes, I do my own work (unfortunately for the car,

WILCO; I have an 02 SS with 169, 000 on it. I've owned it for a year on April 12. She was neglected by previous owner so I've done; pcm reprograming, map, mas, ign. module, tps, iac, plugs, belt, air filter, iac, rims and tires, fuel filter, fpr, 180º thermostat.
Still have to do; struts, brakes, resonator.

Question for you is what brought you to thinking you had a bad pcm?
I think mne is bad cause it gives different codes every time I scan it. Including codes for the sensors I've already replaced. I've only put 6000 miles on it since I got it, so it seems suspicious that the replaced parts are coming up bad.

now has 100100 and i am sitting in Chevy Service Department getting a new water pump and rear brakes. Put two new front wheel hubs on it last year. Love my Monte. Drives great. Big Trunk. Gets lots of compliments from old guys mostly which my wife finds extremely funny and thinks i should trade it asap.
