- How many `miles on your Monte Carlo + Problems ?
93.5k - replaced oil pan gasket (been bad for about 25k), power steering pressure line hose (bad for 15k maybe), and new suspension (was old but still ok).
Did some other stuff but was just routine maintenance.
Wheel hubs coming up soon.

If your transmission is slipping that could explain the poor mpg.
I also figured that. I gotts wait to save up tho, I pjt some lucas trans slip fix in it and that slowed down the process

2004 Monte Carlo SS N/A @ 100,000 Miles, I've owned it since 60,000.
1. Needs new front hubs
2. (possibly) needs new bearings
3. Needs rust repair in the rear passenger wheel well
4. Needs new stepper motors for the gauges in the cluster
5. Needs new struts
6. Could use a new set of tires.
I try to do all the work on my own. The rust issue I need to get to a shop before the winter comes. The salt they put down here in Michigan is murder.

Traded car with 126,256. Was due for front end alignment or L/F hub and a new set of tires. Besides that the only maintenance was normal wear & tear. (plugs, wires, serp belt, oil changes, trans filter, pads & rotors) All in all a very reliable and enjoyable car, I will miss it
Hi everyone...01 Monte ss 3.8 147000...was replacing the lower control arm bushings...passenger side first...done...went to driver side and the bushing was upside down or opposite the one in the passenger side control arm...Is this the correct way they should be placed or are they supposed to be the same way....
i might not have to get a rebuid, i looked at the dipstick and it looks a bit dirty, what i did was add some more tranny fluid and its been feeling better, i think i just need to do a filter and fluid change
Replaced starter. Replaced thermostat. Rear defogger works now, solution was in the forum.
Trans shows signs of pending failure - back out of a parking place, shift to drive and get a hard launch or a shudder. But its been doing it since about 90K. Change fluid more often than I ever did in hopes of putting off complete doom.
Right front speaker no longer plays radio sounds, just a high pitched noise that follows the RPMs.
Yet reliable. Commute is 75 miles a day, has not let me down.
