alright well i've figured out waht im gonna be doing now, just tryin to find some local places to get cheap fiberglass. I was wondering how well the fiberglass would blend with the hood, could i just sand it smooth or would the entire scoop need to be covered in bondo?

autozone and walmart both carry fiberglass matte and resin. You could also go to a local paint/body shop supply store.

For what its worth- fiberglass needs some sort of body filler to smooth the edge- you're going to have a hump going from the hood up to the fiberglass layer that needs smoothed out if you want it to blend in.

However, from what I've seen- fiberglass stuff on a metal hood w/ bondo tends to crack. IMO the hood is too big and flexible and the fiberglass flexes differently than the thin sheet metal does- so the interface material (body filler) is put under a lot of strain.

wish i would hace read this before i went shopping... got resin, fiber glass mat and cloth, Bondo, sand paper, respirators, metal tubing...

Luckily I havent started any real work, right now the hood is removed, and ive been making card board mockups of what i want the scoop to look like. Once i get it all done I'll start a new thread documenting it all, and yes, i've been taking plenty of pictures

seems like a great idea in theory, assuming you live in a place where it doesn't ever rain.
