Default HID lights with Ballasts

I have a 2002 Monte Carlo LS. I just installed the new lights (HID) and Xenon Ballast but I have been told that you need to disable the day time driving light for it to work properly. I don't know for sure though. I hooked them up, the passengers side works fine but the drivers side never came on at all. I even switched the connection around but didn't make any difference. I was wanting to know what I was doing wrong & if you really have to disable the daytime driving lights that work through the high beam light but at a dimmer light till dark then they automatically switch to the low beam lights. This leaves me fully & also mad. PLEASE can anyone help me? Thanks in advance. Frank

I just installed my HID kit for my low beams in my 2004 Monte Carlo LS. I had to disable my DRL's because they were run off the lowbeams. I've heard that the DRL's will burn out my HID's and I dont wanna take that risk! Hope that helps

Are you sure you have an 04 Monte? Only the 05 had DRLs in the low beams... so either you have a 2005 or you have a 2004 that has an issue w/ the lighting system (when the DRL system isn't working correctly, the car turns on the low beams instead)

To the OP: Did you put HIDs in the highs or lows? If they are in the lows, then you don't need to bypass the DRL, but you do need to install a relay harness with the HIDs to avoid wiring issues.

I have a 2004. I had read on here that it was the 04 and 05 Montes that had the DRL on lows, so I did it just to be safe, but also I also wanted to turn the DRL's off. Even if they are not the lows, i still like not having DRL's. Side note: I installed 6K HIDs, but would like a bluer color. Should I go up to 8k or 10k.

How did you disable the DRLs? Did you get the Highbeam Out or Service Vehicle Soon message?

If your DRLs were indeed in the Low Beams, then you have a 2005... 2004 is in the High Beams

First i tried just pulling the relay, but a service light came on. So then I bent the 87 pin, and no service lights came on.

That only works in the 2005... you should double check your VIN to verify the year of the car...

Plug the VIN in here ( http://www.compnine.com/vid.php ) and let us know what it reveals...

Ok so I finally got some time to tinker around with my lights. I straightened out the 87 pin, and found that my DRL's are run on the high beam. Is silicone the best way to seal the gasket, that the HID wires run through?
