My wife's 2003 monte SS has no power and won't rev past 4000 rpm. It seems like a rev limiter is kicking in. It idles perfect and accelerates so so but has no power at all. WTF??

 

I had roughly the same problem with my 05 Montecarlo but mine was more like 3000-3500RPM coulnt go past Seemd Kinda Slugges.. I would Check Coil Packs.. also possibly cat starting to plug.

It's normal that the engine won't rev past 4,000 rpm in park or neutral, That's the computer preventing you from blowing up your engine. If it wont rev past 4,000 rpm when driving under full throttle, that's a problem.
