Default happened to me today ...

I am not a big time poster here but i do catch up on the threads often. so i figured i would share what just went down. not well written , sorry in advanced.
Well the idiot light for low oil flashed this morning when i started the monte, so i checked the oil. It was over the fill line by a good amount. I decided to get a quart and add it at the local mobile gas station and being how i am , i did not chose to use a funnel . 1 stupid drop fell short landed on the engine and instantly caught on fire. I jumped into panic mode and started blowing on it hoping it would go out . a couple seconds went on and the flame went out. I almost **** myself. Now i know i added oil to prev. cars through out the years and spilled oil but this never happened. This only lasted a couple seconds but it felt like forever at the moment. all said and done i finished it using the funnel and all is well.

Haha, sorry but I couldn't help but giggle at the image of it, I am glad that everything is good now.

I've dropped plenty of oil before and thankfully have never had a fire.

You know what, I've been very laid back, I always assume that it will just smoke itself out. O_O

Wow. Glad to hear that everything is okay in the end. I don't know anybody that changes their own oil that hasn't done that before an totally panic'd.

I've one better than that. Changing the oil once, forgot to put the pan plug back in. "Wow, 5 quarts an hardly registering?" (looks down at the black lake running down the driveway) ".......oh.....right...."

Makes me think about the time that one of my fuel injectors popped out of the rail. Gasoline spraying everywhere including all over my headers. It was scary, but nothing happened. Glad to hear your Monte is good too. Would have scared the crap out of me to see a fire, lol.

Glad to hear you got it out, guess I was lucky, I spilled oil on my exhaust header and it smoked and burned. I finally scrubbed the exhaust header as much as I could, one driving cycle later I didn't smell it burning anymore, thankfully.
