Half a pony
I'm sure GM did what they had to do to get the fuel economy numbers from their test mules at the time. We all know that it's easy to free up some horse power from these cars. Especially the 3800's. The reason the 3800 series II is referred to as bullet proof is because the power was watered down at the factory. It isn't runned at it's true potential with the factory set up.
I'm sure Ford watered down the power to meet government fuel economy regs too.
I'm talking strickly stock. Modded cars you need to just run and find out who's better. Which is half the fun.

the 3.8 is as well depends on the gethe newer ones befor they came out with the ohc v6 were weak do to thewanted to get more mpg out of it. the older ones you can get the supercharger heads an supercharger off of a super coupt-bird to make it have more umph. but to be honest comming from a guywho likes both makes. also has a v8 supercharged mustang i love the ss 3.8 supercharged montes to be honest there sexy a peace of art in a way shame they didnt keep the 3.8 in them. 3.8 3.9 and ss v8 now the numbers would have been there. nut i love my monte and mustang every time i go to my auto store round the corner there is a woman there that has a 01 ss monte and a 02 mustang gt. we always end up saying to each other hows the monte and mustang. like its our pride yes i know her dad gave her the ss and she ended up doing all the power ups with her dad. yes i always have a go girl power to women who love there cars. also willing to know and to get dirty to keep them running.
Bottom line - V6 owners shouldn't bash other V-6 owners. The majority of the newer Stangs on the road are V-6s because most people can't afford cars that cost $38,000 - $40,000 for the V-8s. I am one of them and I am very satisfied with the performance of my car. And horsepower isn't everything either. I test drove a 323 hp V-6 Camaro this past spring and it felt so slow - and I beat the hell out of it. That is why I bought my V-6 Mustang and damn proud of it.

I don't think anyone is getting the point here... This guy walks into my job thinking his car is hot s#it, like he's driving a Boss, when in reality he is nowhere close. I do know they have just as much potential to get into those high numbers. Thanks for making me look like a idiot..
Perhaps the guy was trying to come across as a savy car type and looked up info about your car, not really a stalker type. Just did not want to come across as a inept car person, especially since he is a Mustang owner. I can sense where your coming from Red as most Monte owners view Mustangs as potential threats on the road, I always did. They are one of the reasons I built my Monte. So when you know a Pony is not a real threat and you know that he knows it, it's like PLEASE! don't waste your time on me.
Now go out and smoke one for the fun of it.... You know!!!
