Default Fixing Saggy Driving Door

I'm replacing the hinge pins on the drivers side of my '79, I already have the pins from GM, they come with a pin, 2 brass bushings and2steel or something like it bushings.I'm assuming that I just grind off the top of the old pin, pop it out, replace the bushings, and slide the new pin in through the top, having the dooroffto do all this. But I have never done this before, so isanyone able to back me upon my thought processes? Thanks.

make sue you have help with this or something to hold the door nad do one at a time.

also use a punch and drive them from the bottom to the top.

if you cant find someone to help see if you can get a hold of a cherry picker and support the door this way.
I sugest doing the bottom first. and what ever you do dont take them off the car o do them unless you know how to re adjust the door.

if you move it out of aliment to much your door wont shut. and if it dose might not do it to well.

Good luck

hey also take some photos and do a write up on it if you would Please!!

Yes this is DEFINITELY a 2 person job. It will take alot of adjusting and "working it" until you get it perfect!

So even the new pins are put in from the bottom? Cuz the factory ones that are in there now have the ends crimped over the hinge to stop it from falling back out the bottom, and the new ones obviously don't, nor do I have any toolthat could. I don't think anyway.

I'm also wondering if anyone can tell me why there are 4 bushings. I just knocked out the old pins and we have the hinges out, but there are only 2 brass bushings we had to take out of the old hinge. What are the steel ones for?

most of the time you can use either or.
btu some doors will ahve one top and one bottom also. one is also for holding the door open and the other is for allowing it to run along the pin to open and close.
i can tremeber for defent wha tthey look like i n those cars, been a while.
