Could have been avoided
GM put profit before people and it is coming back to bite them in their butts. I recenty changed my Y2K Monte SS cabin air filter and found one other problem with GM designs. A rodent built a nest atop the filter. A week before I changed it, my wife asked if I smelled a grass-like aroma in the car. But how did the vermin get in?

This would hardly be a GM thing! Back in my lube shop days, we'd were pulling dead mice and nests out of air filter boxes probably once a week - its quite common. I can't say any one model of car stood out as having this happen more than any other, tho a trend would be this occurring after a car was pulled out of storage. I always check for mice when mine comes out in the spring, but I put a dryer sheet in the air box to keep them out. But the dryer sheet must come out before trying to run the engine again.
Mice can be crafty little buggers!

I agree, I don't see how GM or any other manufacturer can make a car a rodent can't sneak into. It's a sad fact of life, those little guys can cause annoying headaches.
