are breather filters really that necessary? what do they do?

 

Our cars get enough air, I tried to find the link where this was discussed and if I remember correctly they caused some problems, maybe related to oil flow. I'll see if I can hunt it down...

If anything, I think it will just look pretty..

All this said I assume your talking about the valve cover breather...
