blew the motor
today when i was going to get my new power steering belt from NAPA and on the way home i lost oil pressure and it stalled. i started it back up and limped into a parking lot. it had a little bit of oil pressure and wasnt makin noise so i drove home easy (2 miles) got in the driveway and it stalled again, started it back up and now its knocking. its not really a knock, but its got a nice loud rattling sound in the bottom end. RIP 305, time for a 350.

RE: blew the motor
i think its the rod bearings. i cant afford a crate, so used will be the way to go. hopefully i can afford to get another vehicle because it was my daily driver, so unfortunately i might have to let the car go.

Hi `Tony,
I really hope you can find a way to keep your Monte SS.
I would check your local salvage yards, and places like
Craig`s List in your area. Also, do Google Searches.
Below is one example I found.
Wish you better luck 4-Sure.
Oh, I`m still whin`ing "I miss my Monte"

stock rebuilt, 9.5 to 1 compression ratio
$1,250.00
I have a completely rebuilt SBC 350 long block out of a 87 Camaro with fuel injection. It is all stock, bore, stroke, cam, etc; but has been rebuilt with a replacement crankshaft kit with .010 main and rod journals and Seal Power bearings. Also replaced were the piston rings (PC moly), timing gears and chain, Mellings HV oil pump with new screen and drive rod, all high quality parts, all new Felpro gaskets and seals. The cylinder heads were pressure tested, checked surface flatness, valves and guides redone. The engine has the oil pan, front TC cover, and valve covers on it with the harmonic balancer and flexplate attached. This engine had very low miles on it before the rebuild and will make a nice replacement for someone. For more info or pics email or call. Seller Phone Number: 352-596-2448
