Read that thread, while it was good info its not very helpful because I cannot even turn my key. Do I just need a new cylinder guys?

Sound like a bad or worn cylinder
Many tumbler wear, especially when the owner puts a lot of
keys & objects that hang from the key chain They swing back & forth & put strain & wear on the ignition....
Good Luck on getting it fixed..

 

I read that its possible to get it re-tumbled? how would I go about doing that? I've read that a locksmith could do this?

Hmmm reseting the alarm seems like a place to start. I may also try disconnecting the battery and see if that does anything too?

 

I don't think it will help with this one, but I was working on a '97 Grand Prix that had a low charged battery and learned, when you go to start the car and it REALLY drains the battery of that last bit, good luck getting the key out of the ignition.... It won't let you. Perhaps something in the tumbler is not properly operating due to a bad charge on the battery. I admit, that is a REAL long shot, as I would think it that were the case the car would not start for you each time....

 

I got AAA coming out, they said they only cover $60 so maybe this guy can just drill a whole in the cylinder to get it unlocked just temporally. I spoke with my Mom on the phone last night and we decided that it's best to just let the Monte Carlo go, I am going to sell her and get back into what I know best. Mustang GT's

 

Locksmith came out and he couldn't even fix it..
