Best way to increase performance
#2
CAI, u-bend removal, free-flow exhaust....and a few other things if I could remember.
There are plenty of people that could help you more, but as I recall, these are the most economical things you can do to boots your hp by about 5% and move your torque curve up a taste.

if ur n/a u wont go much further than ^^^. the 3.8 isn't a particularly powerful car and isn't easy to get great power. (unless its boosted) but the cai will make it sound like a beast especially if u mess with the exhaust.

I kinda have to disagree. The 3800 Series II is a great engine that for a person who does there homework, offers the ability to be modded and improve performance. There are a lot of mods to add more power and pep to a N/A car. It depends how much you want to spend. Heck, people have gone turbo charged and even done top swaps.
For example, I added a bunch of mods to my Monte's 3800 N/A and I feel I have improved it's power pretty well. Not sure if I can hang with a Supercharged 3800 (I've heard I should be able to). Of course, if I began with a Supercharged 3800, it's a completely different base engine to squeeze more performance from.
There's a lot of good info out there and a lot of crappy hype.

Well, speaking from experience, modding a 3800 to keep it NA is an uphill battle. You get very little gains for the mods. But anything boosted is going to do better then if it was NA. If you're only doing bolt on mods to an NA 3800, don't expect to go much faster then a high 14 second 1/4 mile. If you're going to go with a cam, higher compression, stroker, then you'll get into the 13's. But for all that money, you could have gone 11's if you had went with a turbo. Your choice.
