Anybody else have this maintenance issue?
being a first year vehicle shouldn't really have anything to do with it. GM's had the DIC's in their cars for years. The same with the tire pressure monitor system - I know it's been on the Cadillac's at least...
and I haven't had any problems with any of my electronic/computer items - and I got my '06 Monte back in November 2005, so I'm sure it was pretty close to one of the first batches off the assembly line, since they didn't start production until October...

Ok, so I took the car to another dealership, to see if it really was a GM explanation, or just the dealership feeding me crap, lo and behold, option 2. The second dealership laughed when I told them what the previous said. I dropped the car off, within the hour they called with an answer. The part was ordered, came in a few days later, and within an hour it was installed and working as new. The tint had NOTHING to do with it, it was the remote module (?) that also receives signal from the keyless entry. It was replaced, the tire pressures are all reading, and my keyless entry has better reception than eve, I can actually use the remote start without already standing next to the car.
thanks for all the input guys
