87-88 monte LS gear selector?

87-88 monte LS gear selector?
im lookin into gettin a 87-88 monte LS, i just wanted to know if they had the shifter on the steering column or on the center console? was the center console gear selector like an option only on the ss models or on the LS too?

the shifter was on booth but it was a option.
If you dont like it on the colom and you wan tto move it you can do this witha bench seat also just put in a floor shift colom (one with out the shifter **** on it) and then use the color to shift the car but it is not a good way to race with it .
Other wise you will have to change the seats and add a council to the car to make it look like a stock one.
But doiugn it the other way also makes it harder to steal as most folks cant figure it out with out thinking about it and that takes time.
Not theft proof just slows them some.
also the caramro of those same years or earlier years with the center councials fit great and dont look to bad but they also hgad the same style shifter from the factory but a diffrent shift **** was put on them to make them have the button on the side for the monte carlos.
they were on the top for the others,
Also if you can find the olds gutlass they had the same councials in them as the monte carlos up till 78 so those would work for you to. you can also try monte carlo Depot on the net or paddocks they normally have the whole set up but they are not cheap new.
