I didn't participate in this thread the first time cause I didn't have a car with a 3.8L engine in it at the time.

To date, the intake gasket is the only problem the engine has given us. I think I may try to replace the gasket myself?

The only "problems" I've had with mine is my 'speed sensor' went bad (the car would be off, key not in the ignition and the speedometer would still say around 50 or so), that got fixed. Another thing is when I turn my highs on all my lights, including my dash lights, shut off and the only thing I'm left to see with while drivin down wooded back roads, is my fogs... SUCKS! And the last thing is my sunroof, at times, decides it doesn't want to close so I have to hit the button a million and one times for it to close! And I had to change my battery in September of '09 (it was still the original battery that came in the car with almost 70,000 miles on it)

I just got mine about two months ago. My sunroof sometimes doesn't want to work correctly but if I keep hitting the switch it will eventually do what it should. It needs new valve cover gaskets but so far nothing else. My ex-wife and I had a 98 GP GT with the 3800 and the engine was pretty flawless. We did have a pretty major engine repair at about 6,000 miles but I think it was caused by a piece of sparkplug breaking off and eventually wiping out the valve seal in that cylinder. Had to have the head repaired but after that, the only thing I had to replace was the water pump. I don't know if she had to have anything else done to it after we got divorced but she sold it last year with over 200,000 miles on it.

Bambi88,
That is a nice car you have there. I was looking through your photo album and you have some great shots. I got lucky and bought mine off of the original owner. I need to get some pics of mine someday.

Thanks... my parents bought it for me in 2004 when I was 15; didn't have a learners permit or anything, it was my 'sweet 16' present. Some of my shots are done by my cousin who is a photographer. I should be getting together with her soon to do another photo shoot... I'm trying to get a shoot done at MIR; crossing my fingers on that one.
