2004 ss vs 2006 lt
I just put a deposit on a 2004 mc supercharged ss which has 24,400miles and I'm trading in my 2006 mc lt with a 3.5v6. I liked my 03 ss alot better then the 06 i have now. But my question is how reliable is the 3.8 with the supercharger. How much should I be paying for the car it's nice doesnt have a scratch or dent or anything.

RE: 2004 ss vs 2006 lt
I remember in the mid 90's when Buick put the SC 3.8 in the Park Avenue they used to blow the SC manifold gasket. Haven't heard of that happening since 99 or 2000. 06MCLTZ is 100% correct when he saye the 3.8 is bulletproof. You can flog the h*** out them, even the ones that get little or no maint seem to never die.

The 3.8 is definately a strong motor. It should last a longer than most as it is if you beat on it, and if you drive normally you should be able to put around 350,000 before major problems with engine or transmission. You could still have a low cost problem like waterpump or alternator though.
