2002 monte SS "ridin red" project

So in case you didn't see Red had a little accident.
She is at the repair shop and I'm driving a 2012 Malibu in the mean time.
BTW had nothing to do with the lights in the previous post.

More or less
I was driving on a back road from my parents house after changing my oil. It was dark and alot of cars were driving with their high-beams on, I was approaching an S curve in the road the is hiden by a straight away dead end, with a car in the opposite direction that had Highbeam HID's on. I was blinded as the driver swirved partially into my lane and by the time my vision recovered I was already at the turn. I was already on my breaks so I started the turn, I then realized I was further in the turn than i thought so I turned the wheel further. I forgot the road was wet and began to slide, I tried to correct a couple times and felt I had slowed down enough and instead of trying to straighten it out and risk hitting someone coming around the corner of the S curve. I hit gravel on the side of the road and slid into a bush. I stopped just 5' too long and 3' to far to the right.
thats a litte bit more than I posted the thread I wrote about it.

Two painted valve covers ready for install. Valve covers courtesy of Jason (the maniac) I painted them today.
Also got the estimate today $3800 worth of damage to red. Should be repaired early december. My christmas present to myself! My gf also got me the upgraded light kit for under my car so by januaury I should be almost done with my show off mods.

I. WANT. THAT. EL (?). WIRE. lol except in Red. Where did you get it, and what exactly is it? I was originally just going to do cheapo LED strips from AutoZone and stick them under the foot wells, but I like this look MUCH better.

It does come in red but it may look a little pink-ish. It comes from a lot of places but I will forever refer people to EL wire pros. They are the company that did the lighting for the tron movie and have the best customer service I have ever delt with. The replaced the inverter when I blew it up and exchanged my wire when I didn't like the color, all for free! It is a copper core wire coated in phospherus and two smaller wires wraped around that and then coated to the color you want. The A/C current passing through the wires causes the phosphours to glow. Now that I think about it the RED is pretty good color wise. Just a note that the inverter will make a high pitched noise when powered. Not a big deal if you have it set to beat with the music (like mine) or if you want a constant on you can just wrap a little insulation around it and hide it away. Let me know if you have anymore questions. Its about $1.20 a foot for pre soldered wire in lengths from 5-120 ft.

It sounds pretty good. I am definitely interested in it. Would make a good winter project since I have the Monte in storage. I want to do it around the dash just like you have, but also like on the door panels, rockers, and maybe even around my subs in the trunk too. How much did you end up ordering to do the dash? Just so I can gauge how much extra I will need. Allowing a little room for error when installing too. I am not the best with electrical stuff lol
