Default 2000 monte carlo

I have a 2000 monte carlo ss and had a bad problem with it not starting, and radio lights and blinkers work periodically, took it to the dealership and it said I had a bad BCM.. Replaced it and then they said the dimmer switch is bad but it starts everytime.. said I'd wait on switch and it started right up for about 3 days then went to crank it up and it didn't start.. waited a few mins and tried a few more times it started.. then read to try in neutral if doesn't start and it starts in neutral if it wont crank.. does anyone know why this is? and no I haven't fixed dimmer switch yet.

A defective neutral safety switch will allow you to start in neutral if it doesn't start in park. If you need a new dimmer switch, replace it yourself. It actually quite easy.
