Default 2000 Monte Carlo Power Windows

The 2 steel cables managed to get tangled in the gear and got all screwed up. Can you buy just the cables or is this a dealer thing?

what those cable are is your motor regulator. what it does is acts kinda like a garage door, where as the door weighs an ungodly amount but yet due to the springs you can lift it with one finger or lift it with a 3/4 hourse motor because the springs will assist in the lift. same concept here. the window motor will not lift alone so on early power window setups you have a clock spring setup to help lift the window. modern day setup went to a pully system with plastic pulleys and cables. isnt that quite the couple. very common break/proble. you may be able to get the regulator assembly alone. not sure. $$ cost you some money. thank god for tax returns.

Hey the regulators are available through GM Parts Direct. Here are the part numbers & prices:

Drivers side - 10309981 Left side - $85.55

Passenger side - 10309982 Right side - $83.11

They are easy to install, it just takes a Torx, Philips, and I believe 1 or different sized sockets. All together maybe a 20-30 minute job, hardest part is being careful removing door panel and not breaking plastic pins - be careful.
