1988 SS body
I jus came across a 1988 monte carlo SS body, has a interior but will need reupholstered - no drivetrain - no rust that i can tell but will need painted, looked like some white poaint was spilled on it. Are these bodys worth anything or should i make an offer? If so whats a good guess to offer? I can get photos if needed.
Are you planning on refinishing the car, or trying to re sell for a profit?
They are very nice and desirable when done up, the paint is an easy fix, but is costly by the time you factor in new decals and with paint jobs you really do get what you pay for.
Drive trains are easy if you have the tools and know how to put one back in, just depends on what the previous owner has done to what is left under the hood (wiring and other small but expensive pieces of necessary hardware, motor mounts, tranny mounts, if there is a rear end etc. etc.)
A re upholster for the interior can be costly depending on what you have done, if you just find a donor interior from a junk yard it shouldn't be that bad, but if you decide to go all out the sky is the limit.
Like I said when they are done up right, they are worth a fair amount of money, but unfortunately now it will never be numbers matching, so that can effect the value as a lot of people want them original, but on the other hand a lot of people prefer them custom so it will ultimately come down to the buyer you find at the end of the day.

Wouldn't blame you if you got attached to it, they are beautiful cars and if I could swing it I would have a white 87 to match my 02 (it will happen one day
) I wish you the best of luck if you do decide to pursue the project, it will definitely be worth it when you take it for the first cruise

The ss monte will always be popular,if you have the$ and time to restore back to the original look or customize it then its definitely worth the buy.Make a offer and you might be surprised at what people will take especially if its been sitting awhile.
