Now why would they spend all this time and money revamping the Monte to fit the 5.3L Smallblock if they are just going to stop making it all together? That really would **** me off. But then again , if you look at what happened last time they stopped making the Carlo.....People wanted it back so they made it again. ****. I don't know.

Better to go Mopar than Fix Or Repair Daily!!

Just don't get anything with 6 cylinders from them. They suck.

Yea solara killer I think we do own classics in a sense. We have the first model year change, the first and only ones to have the LTZ, 3.9, fog lights, and dual exhaust options. They should hold their value well I'd think but with cars you never know.

And my favorites features are the remote starter, heated leather seats and sun/moon roof combo. (I'm not crazy about the On-Star or XM.) I really, really enjoy the lit buttons on the doors and steering wheel even though the shifter could use some indicators. All for under $20k.[sm=gears.gif]

I agree solara about the features. I really don't use the remote start a lot but I will in the winter when I leave work. At home she stays in the garage all the time. I've had a 98 Grand Prix GTP, 2000 Monte Carlo LS and a 99 Regal GS supercharged and by far the '06 is outstanding. It just feels even more solid and tight. I love the standard 17" wheels too! Although I've already purchased the forged, polished aluminum ones from GM accessories for it.

I love my '06 Monte but I just became part owners of a 1917 Ford Model T that will sit next to my Monte in my garage. I am picking up the Model in one week.

[X(]As of September 2006, production on the Monte Carlo has ceased. The Oshawa plants are undergoing a retooling for Zeta-platform capability, and it is unknown whether the Monte Carlo will return or not.? ? ? ? ?[X(]

There is some debate as to whether the changes between 2005 and 2006 warrant a new generation designation. Many of the same exterior body panels and glass are retained. The exterior changes are very similar to the changes between a 1986 Sport Coupe and a 1986 Luxury Sport (front fascia, front fenders, rear bumper cover). The interior for 2006, however, is redesigned, and features a "substantially revamped cockpit-style instrument panel with a new instrument layout and control center stack." (Autoworld.com's reposting of GM press release material) Additionally, the seats and console are revised. However with the completely new engine options for 2006 comes change in some key chassis components such as control arms that cause the track and wheel-base to be slightly larger. GM has yet to specify if the 2006 model year is the beginning of a true seventh generation, or if it is just a "refreshening" of the sixth generation. Similar "refreshenings" were performed to the 1997 to 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix and were considered the same generation.

What do you think ?
