I took my mother's apart this weekend because her passenger side wasn't getting heat. The actuator broke and was stuck on cold, so I can tell you the steps easily. I just left her car apart and manually turned the door to heat. Ordered a new actuator and taught my Dad how to put the car back together when the part delivers. But for now she has heat.

She has an 06 SS, so it should be the same for you.

Drop the passenger kick plate (3 plastic rivets and unclipping the light) You don't really NEED to undo this piece, but it allows more access for a flashlight and it's super easy to remove. Throw that in the back seat. Undo the 5, 7mm bolts at the bottom hinge of the glovebox. Then open the glove box and detach the cable that supports it (push through the middle, and then unclip). Put the glovebox in the back seat. Now you have access to both the passenger actuator and the recirculation actuator. 2, 5.5mm bolts and the electrical harness and it's out.

The recirc one is a little harder to get to, so just use the passenger heat one as your guide to where things should be and then go in blind and feel around.

All in all, I had it disassembled in 15 minutes.

Not long. Probably 1 to 1-1/2hrs. I'm in no rush when doing this stuff.

Yes remove the glove box and panel beneath it. Pretty accessible from there.
