wow, you must be pretty old to have owned all of those cars
I am old. In fact, I'll so old I forgot one of my favorites - 69 Plymouth GTX - that was faster than the Monte.Thinking back,it probably got somewhere around 8 - 10 mpg. [:-]

Now comparingthe V6 supercharge verses the V8 Monte is not 20000.00 difference in my opinion. With little body change is all i would be getting. If the V8 had about another 50 or so HP it would be on track with the weight ratio,It just not that impressive to me, sure the one's that own one will stick up for there car and I can't blame them for that.I will stick to the V6 and tweak it a little with theextra cashi got and go from there..Now i not going to take all of it and put it in thecar but i do believe 5 grand ought to put some light on the subject. What is leftI'll take a good vacation with that...This is what's good, everyone can have a opinion and still come out ok. Everyone's dreams is not the same..We see what we see and believe in what is in front of us is the best we have. That is life in todays world.Weather a V8 or a V6 we still got a car that has potential on becoming a classic.Enjoy what we have and be happy showing it off..

My dad had a 63 Plymouth Fury and when he ordered it he wanted the 383 option. Well something happend at the factory and he got one of the top end Nascar engines. Plymouth was trying for 2 years to get that car back with "free" oil changes and the like.

Anyhoo, long story short, he averaged around 3-15 mpg depending on circumstances. At 110 mph you floored it, it still put you deep in your seat. He still laughs when he takes Corvettes out for a test drive as the pull is about the same as 1 gear acceleration.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean about the V-8 not being worth $20,000 more than a supercharged V-6. If the 5.3 were a $20K option, I would agree with you -wholeheartedly.

I paid $20K for my car (which was probably not THAT great of a deal). At the moment, you should be ableto buy a brand-new 07 SS, with every option, for somewhere around $26K or less. Now I don't know enough about the used SS market to know what $6,000 will buy nowadays; however, if you're comparing a used supercharged SS worth$6K to an 06-07 SS, Imust respectfully say thatyou're getting into the "apples and oranges" arena.

Most people under 40 or so don't really appreciate the V-8 or what it took to properly dial one in.

Once fuel-injection and overhead cams came into the picture, 200 hp and more was more or less standandard from a 4 or 6 banger.

I would say under 30. I remember quite vividly trying to tune my damn q-jet carb on my 78 Camaro RS, not a fun job by any means. More like an exercise in fustration. Should have just dropped the clams for an Edelbrok and called it a day.

Yeah, my daughter hated my Cadillac, she thought the V-8 was too much engine for her.

I always thought it was a good V-8, but I could always use more.
