06 07 V8
Well with a few mods to the 3.8 Rev it would eat a 5.3 for B-fast. And I had a GTP with "mods" and it put out approx. 300 hp and I'd run it against a new Monte with the 5.3 and beat it. As for reliability mine had 117K on it when I sold it and NOT once did it ever break down on me. All I did was routine maintenance.

Well I priced out a LS7 505HP - TURN-KEY Crate at $16,000, $14750 with Employee Discount. Now I need to figure out how to turn that motor sideways, or build a tunnel and create a Rear-Wheel Drive 2006 Monte Carlo SS

I agree with you 2 quick4u, in that the 06-07 with the V8 is not that impressive. I've said it time and time again, it just doesn't live up to the hype.

1964 Impala SS327/300
1967 Chevelle SS 396/325
1968 Camaro SS 396/325
1970 340 Cuda (HP under-rated by Chysler @ 275- very, very fast)
1973 340 Duster (smog engine, but still a hoot)
1997 Lincoln Mark VIII LSC (my favorite of all time)
Various police cars dating from 1975 to 2005 (mid-90's Caprices were the fastest, by far)
With the above in mind, I tell you that I'm very impressed with my 06 SS - especially when I'm running BP 92 octane. In fact,I think it's faster (IMO) than every car listed above, with the exception of the Cuda and the Camaro.
