I am not to keen on the 4cyl part but if it can be deleted and warranty stays ok, I want one so i guess i will take a test drive and see the comparison is between the 6 & 8, hope i can see a big differnce in them. I like the 6cyl it has enough HP for me but i wanted to get one to hang on to for awhile since they don't have anything else in a 2 door except a vette, My 02 just turn 29,890 which i plan on keeping if i get a new one.The style is what i like about them.29000.00 is a lot of duckies for a auto that don't have 350 HP...GM just got in the slow lane for some reason..

Black Attack just bought a new 06 SS for $19K from the dealership where he works, although I don't think the average Joe could swing such a deal. While big 2-doors seem to be dying breed in the American market (witness Eldorado and Mark VIII), some people still preferlarger high-performance coupes. So,for those wanting a new (or newer) car, the Monte is the only thing on the market - unless you want to shell outbig bucks for a MercedesorContinental GT.

When I bought mine last month, I was surprised to find out that the factory rebate on new Montes was only $2500- I thought it would have been more, given the fact that they're not exactly flying off the lots. Now that the last Monte has rolled off the line, I think demand is going to increase, and it might not be long before really good deals are hard to find.

I bought mine new in February 06 and the only problems I have had were not from the V8.Had the usual remote receiver problem (common with all 06-07's), a defective battery and headlamp assenblies replaced under warranty.I have around 11000 miles on it now.
The V8 is definitely impressive. As one member stated in a previous post,it is "scary fast".

Ya'll have to stop limiting yourself to local dealerships. The best way to get a deal is to look NATIONALLY through websites like GetAuto.com, Cars.com, etc. If you can find a car $4,000+ cheaper 1,500-miles away, is it worth the drive? YEP! If you can save $10,000 is it worth going 3,000-miles away? YEP!

There are STILL some 2006 SS out there that are NEW. Find one, you will get the DEAL OF A LIFETIME on it!!! The same holds true for any new 2006 model, and they are out there! Some may be DEMOs.

Now, as far as the 2006 SS, I LOVE IT, I HATE IT! I cannot wait to get the Diablo Predator and KILL that DoD!!! I HATE THAT SYSYEM! I LOVE EVERYTHING ELSE! It handles GREAT! Great POWER! Rides SMOOTH for a car with low profile tires.

My only concern right now is the LACK of Aftermarket Accessories available for it -- Right Now.

But give me a few minutes, and let me see if I cannot hunt down a couple DEALS of a LIFETIME for you around the USA.

I just got back from a test drive 07 SS, it was alright but not what i expected from it, it was a little quick but I think the 3.8 supercharge with a little tweak could draw more fun. So instead of 29000.in 303 hp Monte i will stay with the old Monte and hope i can get some high mileage out of it.Maybe GM will get their head out in the open and get some of these vehicles back on the highway.

I agree with you 2 quick4u, in that the 06-07 with the V8 is not that impressive. I've said it time and time again, it just doesn't live up to the hype.

As I've said before, I've had the 3.8 Supercharged in a 2004 Monte, and my 07 SS V8 would eat it for breakfast without breaking a sweat. I'm not one to fool around with performance modifications, so I don't really have the experience to comment on how much a 3.8 could be improved.

I believe in leaving stuff pretty much stock. The GM engineers had to consider reliability when designing the vehicle, and in my opinion, when you monkey around changing things, you are just pushing it that much closer to the edge, where stuff starts to go wrong. Potentially EXPENSIVE stuff.

And oh by the way, the sound the V8 makes just can't be duplicated with a 6 cylinder.

As far as fuel mileage, my 07 V8is right about the same as my 04 SC V6. No complaints at all.

OK Boys & Girls,
Here is a list of potential SUPER DEALS

Superior Chevy in Cin, OH has a NEW 2006 SS
Allen Samuels Chevy in Waco TX has NEW 2006 SS
Kool Chevy in Strugis MI has a NEW 2006 SS
Saturn of Orlando, Orlando FL has a NEW 2006SS
Edwards Chevy, Birmingham AL has a NEW 2006 SS
Gordon Chevy, Garden City MI has a NEW 2006 SS
Reichert Chevy, Crystal Lake IL has a NEW 2006 SS
Jeff Jones Chevy, Versailles KY has a NEW 2006 SS
and Selma Auto Chevy, Selma CA has a NEW 2003 SS

I would simply offer these folks $18995 and see who is a player, you know one of them will bite!!! That 2003 NEW SS, off the top of my head I don't know what it is worth.

No kidding. Both of my vehicles have been off Ebay and I've saved 2,000 on one and 5,000 on the other.
