I had this problem but i was told not to worry to much about it. ill try some of these out .

i had a popping noise too, i lubed up the top and bottom of the strut tower and it went away. old thread =p

The intermediate steering shaft is comon with almost all gm cars and trucks. There is an updated part from gm, it's better but will still do the same noise eventually
