Default 2006 Mont Carlo Intermediate Steering Shaft Noise Keeps Returning

Hello,

I use to be able to spray the shaft under the turqoise boot with spray silicone to stop the noise for a few thousand miles.. I would have a home it it to get into the center of the pivots and etc..

Lately I am lucky if this fixes it for a few days.

Time for a new steering shaft?

doorman 425155 the part?

What exactly is doing all the creaking? Is it the those little universal looking joints?

Thanks,
Jeff

No, my friends that owns a shop would probably do it...

Sorry, I didn't use silicone, I meant spray greese. It used to last for thousands of miles....

The main question is... Why doesn't GM have a different shaft built that is better?
Is there aftermarket that is better?

This is not a GM Recall (Allthough they really should do something for us) and I have the Original GM Part fromt he factory in mine.

Taking it out to clean it up and relube it with the cork kit looks pretty straight forward. I guess my only question would be, "Is this shaft keyed?" I would image it must be to get the steering wheel lined back up with the wheels.

I wish Borgeson made one for our Monte Carlos. My friend had this same exact problem with her Dodge Ram. She went through shaft after shaft until she ended up buying a Borgeson steering shaft.. Years have gone by and not a PEEP from that shaft..

Is there enough of us to make it profitable for Borgeson to help?
