Arrow = Prepare your Monte for Winter ? =

Driving in winter conditions is something you should prepare for. Here’s Chris Duke's checklist for getting ready for that first cold cruise.

MCF Member's, please add your tips on what you do ?
Thanks

Preparing your vehicle for winter driving

Reliable transportation is especially important in the winter. Not only should you keep your vehicle in top operating condition all year round - for safety and fuel economy, it is especially important to get it winterized to avoid any unpleasant or dangerous situation while traveling in frigid weather. Check the following:
  • Ignition system
  • Fuel system
  • Belts
  • Fluid levels
  • Brakes
  • Exhaust system
  • Wiper blades and windshield washer fluid
  • Snow tires
  • Tire tread and pressure
  • Defroster
  • Proper grade oil
  • Cooling system
  • Battery
  • Lights
  • Antifreeze
Always fill the gasoline tank before entering open country, even for a short distance, and stop to fill-up long before the tank begins to run low. Keeping your tank as full as possible will minimize condensation, providing the maximum advantage in case of trouble.
A cell phone can be very useful to you or another stranded motorist in case of an emergency.
  • Clear all windows and lights of frost and snow.
  • Drive with your headlights on.
  • Stock your car with basic winter driving equipment: A scraper and brush, small shovel, jumper cables, tow chain and a bag of sand or cat litter for tire traction.
  • Also include road flares, a blanket, heavy boots, warm clothing, and flashlight with batteries.
  • Remember to reverse the batteries in the case to avoid accidental switching, and burnout. Warm the batteries between your legs before using them.
Keep an emergency survival kit in the car. You can pack the items into a three pound coffee can.

You're Welcome Hiroska 4-Sure...
I know it's kinda crazy that someone from Florida is posting about preparing your car for Winter > When they have never been or driven in snow

I sure have seen a lot of snow on the `web & I think it could be fun to play in & find empty parking lots & have some fun..., but I think it would be dangerous out there on the roads with bad conditions & crazy drivers like me on the roads...

Got to be safe out there & have your ride in Top Winter condtion 4-Real... Below is a reminder to `be SAFE/SMART out there on your highways of life Oh `NO Scares me
Warning below Pic is Graphic & Sad, but Real

I was always taught to treat your pedals like there are eggs underneath them in poor weather. You want to press lightly so you don't break the egg. As long as you don't make any sudden jerks, or accelerate too quickly, winter driving isn't terrible.

LoL `Mike, that's the same way I was taught by my grandfather when he was teaching me to drive on "Black Ice" > Rainy Roads.
* I do look 4ward to driving in the Snow or ice
I think I would find a large empty parking lot & practice.. I'll try to get `up to your area this winter & practice with your Camaro LOL

I have to store the Deuce this week-end.

Clean her up really good
Store in the Garage
Up on jack stands (cloth between the stands and frame)
Remove the wheels
Remove the battery and take it inside and trickle charge it
Fill her to the top with premium gas and put Sta-Bil in it
Cover my baby up and tuck her in
Place steel wool in the exhaust tips (I don't have critters but ya never know)
Take all my cleaning fluids and waxes inside
Wish for spring
