This has been a very interesting/revealing thread that started as just a Test by Car & Driver in July 2004 (over 8 years ago) of a 04 Chevy Monte Carlo Supercharged Edition that was brand new. The times at the track were made by a unknown driver & unknown conditions at the time of the articles test.

Hi `Mike, I'm really sorry that you feel that way...I just don't know what "u guys" made excuses... I know that we all love many different makes & models of vehicles, but we also have to remind ourselves that we are a Chevy Monte Carlo Forum.

I was just trying to defend the Monte Carlo from your 2nd post to this thread. (below) claiming that a Supercharged Monte Carlo is slower then your Ford `Edge

I was just try'in to solicit the facts/proof of this claim in defense of the Monte Carlo...I did not notice anyone else making excuses. I know that you stated that you had a `vid & I know that I may have pushed hard for your to post `it & understand that you are having problems getting it to post.

I thought we were having fun on this thread, but I am not the one that made the claim, or post about a Ford `Edge being faster then a Supercharged Monte Carlo (Especially on a Chevy MC Forum. I'm sorry `if I pushed to hard to get the facts/proof of your claim...

I think if I went to a Ford Forum & make a post about my Supercharged Monte beating their Edge, I'd be thrown `out or banned from their forum...

I will bring this thread to a close & just learn from the experience, but I will always defend the Monte Carlo for what it designed & build for I don't think your Edge or the Monte Carlo were designed to be a drag racer, but many do race'em

Im telling you guys right now only way I can beat mike in a run is if it is from a stop. And hhe started catching me but I have a higher top speed. Every single time we raced from 60+ he beat the hell out of me till 105. The sc monte has a better 0-60 which is only reason I get him in a quarter. When we stopped I asked him if he has more horse or more gears because it is clearly visible after 60mph a sc monte cannot keep up until it hits gov and the montes is 10 mph higher. We stated that I had him from a stop but that is prob because I am 1000lbs lighter. Take the interior out of the edge and he has me in the quarter for sure.
