I had noticed that the filter was kinda just in the open on my 2000 Monte. I thought that was kinda a dumb idea since when I would was the car the filter would get wet and then I would get a wet smell in my car. The I noticed that in my 2006 Monte that it had that cover over the top of the filter under the cowl cover. I first thing I did when I bought the 2006 Monte was replace the cabin air filter. I torn the cowl apart and missed it the first time because I didn't realize that cover was there. Awesome tips and walk-through though! Great Job!

Upgrade complete. 3.39 @ Stingray Chevrolet.

New bosch cabin filter. # 3720 They cheapend it since i replaced it. Less pleats. As dirty as it was, it needs to be replaced every 10K.

Chibi's write up was dead on. Thank's!! Good to have incase i get caught in a heavy fla squall. Trust me, it can rain down here. Will do a update on the car soon. I have new iridiums ready, wires, and just found a small valve cover leak. Its approaching 56k. Fresh coolant also.

Dont get the bosch! Go to napa and get # 4780. Its a napa premium. Much better cabin filter. Far more pleats.

Just wanted to say THANKS Chibi for sharing this info you found from the Grand Prix guys!! I bought 4 of those diverters (one for my Monte, the wife's Impala, my dad's Grand Prix and my friend's Grand Prix).

I planned to install the ones for my Monte and the Impala on a nice weather day.... Until I found the passenger side carpet of the Monte was damp under the floor mat!!! I ripped the cowl apart last night, process took maybe 5 minutes (maybe 10 the first time). I found on the Monte, the original weather stripping (surprise) fell off.... After doing the Monte, I did our Impala (as preventative maintenance). The Impala did not have a problem (yet) with the weatherstripping, but I feel better having done this BEFORE a problem happens!
