Would you guys recommend taking out the headlight for easier installation? I took a look at how they are mounted and found that there are two white clips that you can take off to unmount the headlight. I'm sure it'll just pull straight out from there. Not sure if doing this will ruin some sealant, or make it hard to mount the ballasts, or what. What do you guys think?

Just the 2 white clips, be careful though they break easily. The seals and everything will be fine.
I just ordered an 8000k low kit and 6000k high kit. I'm gonna disable the DRLs and make it so the lows stay on with the highs, so that I dont have to worry about warm up time, and I get some crazy lighting.

Just got done installing the same exact kit on my 05 Monte. My drls are the low beams so all I did after installing was pull the drl relay and presto everything works no thrown codes and the night sensor still works for when it gets dark out.

Daytime Running Lights.

You don't need HIDs on DRLs, they don't need to be that bright. My DRLs are on the high beams, and they run @ half power (2001.)

Some of the newer Montes have the DRLs on the low beams, this isn't as good for HIDs. I think it's 2005s or so, it's posted in this thread somewhere (there's a bit of an argument at one point, but they eventually come to a conclusion.)

Read the thread carefully to see if your car has them on fighs or lows, and if they're on the highs, see what they say to do about it (I think the general consensus is to disable the DRLs entirely.)

would it matter if you disable the DRLs or not? I ordered the the low beam kit yesterday, and would like to do the highs, but some people say its not good because of the DRLs.

If your DRLs come on during the day, and you have HIDs, your high beam out message will come on. Thats just in my experience. I just covered my day/night sensor and its been working great so far.

HIDs take some time to "warm up." That means, when you first turn them on, they're not at full brightness. This is BAD for highbeams, because you use them in very low light conditions, and need them as soon as you flip the switch.

I never use my highs, since my lows with HIDs are plenty bright enough. In fact, they are significantly brighter (and with the 5000Ks, whiter) than my highbeams, even with Sylvania SilverStars in them.

I'm content to leave my highbeams/DRLs as is.
