I dont want this to turn into an argument either...we each have opinons. and we are entitled to them. where you know of a link to a thread somewhere about trany coolers, i have real world experience with mine. i have a trany temp gauge and have seen the improved cooling from having the cooler. again ZZP's statement on not getting one is mainly aimed at the 4t65e and 65HD i have the 4t60e.

in tuning my car i notice at temps of 195* F and higher the trany is prone to odd shifting and slipping at high RPM. my friends 2002 GTP with the 4t65hd has similar issues when the temp reaches 200* F and higher. the trany cooler i am runing on average gives me 3-5 more runs before getting heat soaked...and cools down much faster back to op temp.

I understand ZZP's post about not runing them...as a new/beginer to moding if you mis-install the cooler, you could blow a line and with in a min or two could drain the entire fluid and burn the trans.

I hope people arent getting the wrong idea... I love ZZP. they are my fav company and i have been very loyal to them. i just dont trust anyone who's job it is to make money. thats just me. they have earned their rep with hard work and by treating their customers very well. I just perfer to make desisions for myself and if i dont know enough on the subject i will ask a bunch of people and do a lot of research until i know enough and have enough opinions to either support or dismiss my choice. and if i dismiss what people say, i know enough and have specific reasons why.

but if you want to try it... get a gauge and run the car until you get the trans into the 200's and watch for yourself the quality of the shifting go down.... deff not fun... and if a $50 part could hold off this effect for a little longer... its deff worth it in my book

I have dealt with ZZPerformance several times now myself. I agree with the e-mail thing, and also, they told me that sometimes they don't even answer the phone because they are SOOO busy.
This is not a large mail order business, but a small business started up when Zoomer decided it was time to help his GP buddies with their 3.8's go faster, cuz that's what he did with his, GO REAL FAST! The company has grown, because of the FAIR pricing he does. EVERYTHING is made in house on their 2 CNC's.
Please be patient with them, and DO call them. They will answer ALL of your questions to the best of their ability. They WILL tell you if something is only for show or for go, as they did with me.
Also, they are 3.8L specialists, and the 3.4 really isn't their cup of tea. They are Pontiac people. Their customer lounge is FULL of ONLY Pontiac magazines.
As far as the flash and your tranny, I LOVE the way my trans' shifts now, I HATED that mushy shifting.
As for the tran's cooler, I installed the AC Delco unit, cuz it's a bolt in piece. I ALSO installed a trans' temp' guage. The guage is a REAL eye opener as to temps. On a hot day and in traffic, it's not unusual to see this thing get over 220 deg. That seems pretty hot to me, and as rebuilding a tranny is about $1,400 min. The cooler and guage were cheap insurance for me. Will it stop it from grenading? NO, but maybe I can stop it from burning up if something goes wrong.

wow.... i travel for a few days, and dont have time to fully look at the site and look what happens! oh, im kidding.

As pointed out, ZZP might lead me astray on a few things, so, let me ask you guys this.... If you have a 3.4l LS monte, what else would you guys do to it? (go ahead, tell me to swap it.... I cant for literally 3 more years until I have the money out of college and off the parents insurance. Trust me... its gonna happen LATER) I asked them, mainly to cover some quick bases, but, as you mentioned, Im sure the person on the other side of the computer there isnt a master mechanic.

I traded off my '01 SS LE because I found myself wanting to do things to that car that was not feasable. That's when I started looking for a supercharged Monte and found this Intimidator SS on Ebay.
In my opinion you have done as much as is reasonable on the 3.4. You're never going to get to that 400-450 WHP with that 3.4. Stop while you are ahead.
If you still have the need to spend some money on it, how about a nice set of wheels, maybe some 18's? Ground effects, like the Razzi kit? Striping? The red has SO many options, and you have a very nice car.
Merry Christmas Mike to you and your family.
