Question Why does my Monte do this?

We just put a transmission in it. It starts and runs fine, but when you are driving along at a steady speed the rpms move up and down slightly. It shifts through all the gears. Any help please?

Could be the torque convertor trying to lock up. Make sure you have enough fluid in the transmission. If you do... you may have a bad TC.

I think the transmission holds 7 quarts I believe. Just check it with your dipstick. And regardless if the TC came with the transmission, it may still be bad. Unless you bought a brand new transmission, which I doubt.

You're good, you find answers by asking questions. I don't know of any way to test the TC, but if it's after you transmission has shifted into 3rd gear and goes to shift again, then your problem occurs, chances are that it's your TC.
