I disagree with that to a point. I realize it would be a waste for someone to put 100+ octane unleaded in a car made to run 87- the pcm can only increase timing to its preset limit in each cell. However, I have heard of people with older, higher mileageengines w/ a lot of carbon buildup and such having to step up an octane level (say to 89 from 87) to fight off the little bit of knock that comes up.

I'm guessing the knock comes from carbon and stuff becoming built up on top of the piston/combustion chamber and increasing compression ratio among other things.

I run 89in the 06 SS andTorco 110with a splash of93 in the 86 SS. It's a little costly for the 86's fuelbut it sure is fun!!!! hahaha

About a month ago. I got it brand new off cgp for well under $1k off new.

The tough part has been doing the mods to make the kit work properly (bbv, pcv, etc)- but luckily its nasty outside now, so I've got some time to get all the issues cleared up before I stick it on.
SWEET!!!!

Can't wait to see what someone with some dedication and knowlege lays down for numbers with this.
