Which way to go to get another 20-30hp on the SC Monte?

Its like Wally World...
I had anticipation and then find out I am denied.

I was looking around on the net, and found out something.
It says engine tuning is illegal for street cars. (not sure if all states it is, but I need to find out)
I hear it is because emissions.
Is this true or???

I do not want to do a mod that is against the law.
I will probably keep poking around the net to find out, or perhaps call a local expert (whatever govt branch that deals with this) with a definitive answer.

Definitely not all states, where are you from? Maybe Cali has some BS laws like that but most states won't be a problem.

The first thing is, how would they even know? Unless the new pcm has a giant sticker on it, or they dont reflash the VIN to match, I don't see how they could possibly find out a handful of settings in a giant sea of code are non stock (plus how would their system even have the stock code for every make model trim and model year back to 96 - including all revisions - theres now way they could possibly keep up).

I've had tunes on my cars since the mid 00s between AZ and IN in both emissions and non emissions counties in each, and have never had a problem.

Any update? I would say that putting in your own custom headers and cat back system won't be too difficult. If some random guy from Iowa can do it, you can do it as well. I went with the 3" exhaust, but probably should've went with the 2.5". Either way, sounds great when I start it and is "ok" when flooring it on the highway.

I've yet to reduce the pulley size, even though when scanning I constantly receive no KR. Bit of a small oil problem that I can't find the solution to.
