Default Should I?

I really want to get a supercharger on my Monte. I was thinking that it would be okay to do this with all of the stock exhaust since the supercharged Monte's come with stock exhaust too, right? I'm going to eventually get exhaust but since I can get a supercharger cheaper I would like to do that. Is it okay? If it is what kind of superchargers should I look at because I can get a factory one that's rebuilt for only $215? Thanks for any help.

i think the transmissions are different in the 2 monte's, the 3.8 na and the 3.8 s/c

as for the exhaust yeah you could leave it, you may just want to get rid of the u-bend

there are a couple of stores online now that sell a kit to put the M90 S/Con our car like
www.milzymotorsports.com look under engine performance then the 3800 and there will be a L36 to L67 top swap
or
www.wbodystore.com
or
www.zzperformance.com

but i think that if you do do this that you should get the 3" downpipe becasue it will help keep KR down on your engine and will give you more H P

I am also in the process of saving up for this and i think i am going to go with the Milzy Motor Sportsone becasue he is on the MyMonte forum and people on that forum have bought from from him and say nothing but good things about him and his products.

also like wiz said the transmissions are different but the Trany should be OK
but it is one of those things that could blow the first time you step on it or it could never fail on you the entire time you have the car with the S/C

but they do make HD upgrade kits that you can buy and put into your car

Make sure you get the Lower Intake Manifold or the Mod kit. You can get them from zzperformance.com and I beleive wbodystore.com has them too.

it is actually a lot more parts then just he charger and the lower manifold. get the kit and you'll be set. you deff want a few extra mods, caue you will be using the 3800 NA this is higher compression then the normal 3800sc the higher compression makes things tricker and more dangerous.

deff U bend delete, 3" dp, colder sparkplugs, FWI

Personally for the money they are asking for a top swap i don't think its worth it. I think you'd be better off buy a full engine/tranny combo from a junkyard. Try your local yards and also research car-part.com. My buddy and i found an engine/tranny combo with all wiring and pcm included for $1200. We paid a local shop to put it in his GT for $200. The engine had 60k on it and trust me this isn't very many miles on this engine. I personally had a GTP with 215k running low 13's without missing a beat. I sold the car and it is still running fine with no problems (now 245k). Basic point i am making is you get everything you need for around the same price as a top swap.

Make sure you change out your axles also, as they are heavier, along with the differential. Gears are the same.

You will definately want the upgraded transmission no matter what poweradder you put on. I would recommend getting a turbo instead as it has better power to cost ratio.
