Frank,
That's so close. If the AIT sensor was at the other end...
It could work...unfortunately.. It isn't..
Did you happen to check the gm part#?
it would be on the lip that connects to the MAF.
24504488 would be the correct part..
Thanks ever so much for your time and effort.

Yea I checked the part#, it started with 25 I think. I had a snapshot handy of the pics and part# on my phone but that's as close as it got. This was in a grand prix... There were a couple of older buicks with the 3800 but none had any of the air intake components

If I'm not mistaken..the 3.8 Impala also uses the same intake duct.

To my knowledge, the Impala did not see a 3.8 in it until 2000, at which point the air duct in it would be the same as a 2000+ Monte Carlo.

But if I have something incorrect (such as the year range of Impala you are thinking of), let me know. It would provide something else to look at in the yards.

X2... all the 3800 impalas I've seen have the same filter assembly as the 6th gen monte

Interesting.... As I think the Series 2 3800 came out in '96/'97. But I never looked at the size of the T-body inlet, it must be a match if the duct hoses are the same. I'll keep an eye out, as I was ignoring Series 1 cars believing they were not correct.
