tune my monte?

The rev limiter is set to 7000RPM.
The shift points are set to 6700 but it will hit 7000RPM no problem by the time the shift is completed. Take that 3800 guys! Lol.

LOL nice numbers, really racking the motor to it's limit. Very impressive........See you can always do diferent mods and gain a few nice advantages. Your cars stance looks killa..

Thanks for the compliment Zippy. Still sitting on stock springs but with 58000 miles they havent really settled too much yet. Really anything under 7 grand is nothing for the LQ1. I would feel comfortable reving it to 7200RPM but probably nothing more than that.

If when ya say watch for them springs, you man valve springs... That is not an issue on the LQ1 like it is on the 3800 series engines. The DOHC setup must have something to do with it as I have never heard of anyone having any internal problems with these engines. There is a guy timg over on another forum who has IIRC a 94 lq1 with a turbo making over 300-350 hp to the ground and no internal problems. In the fiero world there was someone who iirc hit 415 all on stock internals. These engines are a forgotten powerhouse that never had a chance.
The fiero guys and the lumina z34 with the 5spds regularly take these past 7 k with no prob.
Sorry went a little off topic there... But for the thread... There is much that GM dropped the ball on when they tuned this car. Some of there shift tables were so bad it's no wonder these cars eat tranys. They should have held the z34 back a year to 97 and used the l67 like in the GTP. I lI've this engine but GM seemed like they lost interest and set it up for failure.

^^^ thats what ive been sayin. i wish gm would have just thought about the design of the engine bay. its WAYYY too cramped. and i bet bc there wasnt any room the aftermarket performance ppl just looked at it and thought "pfff noone will ever wanna mod this car, lets focus on something else" the lq1 is a strong engine, but its strongest when you are past 3700 rpm. and yea gm didnt do the best job tuning them.

they could have made a ton more power outta the 3.4 bc its a 201 ci dohc v6. thats a lot of wiggle room for power. but they probably didnt wanna make the lq1 too powerful bc it would have drawn attention away from chevys golden child the camaro lol
