transmission flush

RE: transmission flush
the reason for a tranny flush is to get the contaminated, broken down fluid out and replace it with fresh fluid. Doing this at home you'd only be able to replace about 30% of the fluid by dropping the pan so I'd suggest you have a shop do the flush. Just make sure they do a pump inlet flush, not a cooler line flush.

RE: transmission flush
Cost is going to be determined by area. A normal transmission flush in my area is about $70. Also make sure the shop has the tools. We have a large dealership in the area, and by large I mean over 20 lots and probably in excess of 10,000 vehicles in a 30 mile radius, and they did not have a special tool that is needed for the Monte Carlo 2004. I don't know if this is needed for other 6th gen but it confused the heck out of me. This also came from their lead mechanic for about 15 years at the dealership. I checked the Saturn garage as well and they didn't have it either.
