Trans Swap into an 85 SS
Hello all, I am new to this sit. I have an 85 SS. Currently has a 305 thats beat, but I am currently in the process of building a 350 (010 block) for the car. I was thinking about going with a different trans. Was thinking about a TH350 and getting rid of the 200r4. Does anyone know if I will need to have the drive shaft cut. I have heard that its different and then I have also heard it needs to be shorter. I also have a G-Force crossmember for the 200, so will it be possble to fab this to fit the TH350 as well. Any help will be much appreciated. I have access to a shop, welders, cutters, an a whole slue of tools so I am not worried about all of that. Just trying to put the best set up in the car that I can.
Thanks Guys.

Driveshaft is the same, crossmember is different, I would just get another crossmember and sell or trade the one you have for the 200. Going to a th350, if you still have the 3:73's, expect turning 33-3500 rpms at 55mph and a gas mileage drop.
Oh and if its floor shift the cable and bracket on the trans are different also.

Wow, that high of a rpm with a th350. Thats crazy. I also have a B&M shifter to go in once I do all these mods. So, not to worried about the shifter brackets and cables. So, what would be a good choice on a trans for the set up with a 350 and a 3.73.
