Questions about a specific L67 swap into '03 SS
I'm looking for info on dropping an L67 with HD trans intact into an '03 Monte SS that currently has the original L36. This L67 came out of an '04 Monte SS, so I'm thinking it should be a very close match. Has anyone done this swap or can anyone comment on the difficulty in getting the L67 into the '03 SS? It sounds like I should at least plan on changing axles. Any difference in mounts or locations? The motor is coming with the PCM intact as well, but I believe I still need to reprogram after installation. If that is true, is this something I could get a dealer to do? Wondering what other people have experienced in that area.
thanks!

Try the search feature on the forum, you should find information on this swap for sure.
The L67 will bolt up in place of your L36 perfectly. I'm actually not sure that you would need a PCM reprogram if the PCM is coming with the L67. But i'm not sure about that.
If you do need the PCM reprogrammed, there are many places that will do it for the 3800 engines.

Just drop it all in, including the wiring harnesses and the PCM from the stock car and you should be pretty good.
Though someone will hopefully jump on with anything else you might need / keep searching around on various w-body forums

As said above- it will compeltely bolt and plug in. If you didn't get the wiring harness from it, you can use your current one- just go to zzperformance.com and buy the "L67 swap wiring adaptor", its just two simple plugs to make your L36 harness work on an L67.
You shouldn't need to do anything to the pcm as long as you swap both the engine and trans. Do you have emissions in your area? I wonder if you'd have an issue passing emissions if the new PCM's VIN wasn't changed to match your VIN- it will run fine and everything though.
As for axles, your drivers side axle will plug right in. Your passenger side axle will not- if you can get the axle from that powertrain you bought, great- it will plug right in. Otherwise, you could pick one up from the parts store (just buy the passenger axle for the other car).
